My Melbourne: A Cinematic Reflection of the Afghan Women’s Team's Journey Towards Empowerment and Inclusion
My Melbourne is more than just a film; it's a resonant tapestry of stories that echo the lived experiences of the AW Team. This anthology, comprising four distinct narratives—Emma, Nandini, Jules, and Setara—delves into themes of identity, belonging, and resilience, mirroring the journeys of many within our community.
In Setara, we witness the story of a 15-year-old Afghan refugee who, after fleeing the Taliban, finds solace and a sense of belonging through cricket in Melbourne. This narrative parallels the experiences of many women in the AW Team who have sought refuge and are rebuilding their lives, finding strength in new communities and passions.
Produced by Mitu Bhowmick Lange and directed by acclaimed filmmakers including Onir, Rima Das, Imtiaz Ali, and Kabir Khan, My Melbourne is a poignant reminder of the strength found in diversity and the universal quest for belonging.
As we continue our mission, the AW Team draws inspiration from these stories, reaffirming our dedication to fostering an environment where every woman can thrive, contribute, and feel a profound sense of belonging.
