A Night of Recognition and Resilience

Written by Mel Jones, Cricket Commentator and Key Advocate in the Evacuation of Afghan Cricketers

This evening, Nahida and I had the profound honor of attending Australia’s International Women’s Day event, where our team was awarded the prestigious Sport Excellence Award. This recognition is not just a celebration of our achievements but a testament to the strength, perseverance, and unyielding spirit that has defined our journey.

As a team, we have always believed that this is only the beginning. There is so much more to accomplish, and tonight serves as a powerful reminder of the path we are forging—not just for ourselves but for every girl who dreams of playing cricket.

We stand as a symbol of resilience, proving that no boundary—on or off the field—can deter us from pursuing what we love. The fight for equality and the right to play continues, and together, we will keep pushing forward.

Here’s to the future, to the battles we will face, and to the endless possibilities that lie ahead. ♥️
